What is Wushu?

Wushu, also known as Chinese Martial Arts or Chinese Kung-Fu has been around for thousands of years, originating from China. Even though it was founded in China, today it is practised by many countries around the world. Wushu, is a form of self-defense and can also be performed for entertainment. It teaches students many forms of fighting styles, teaching them discipline and raising their levels of confidence for themselves and in the world around them with things they do. Wushu, trains students to be fit and flexible, and though athletic ability may not be present in ones self at the beginning, can be achieved with hard work and dedication. Wushu , is closely associated with Jet Li (Li Lian-Jie) who was a five time national champion and won his first when he was thirteen. Jet Li has taken his wushu to higher levels becoming a Hongkong movie star acting in many Martail Arts films and now well recognized as a high quality chinese movie star.
